Holy Week at St John's Primary School

What an exciting week at St. John's Primary school we have had, where all of students participated, to experience the main events leading to the crucifixion of our Lord.  This week we have re-enacted many of these events beginning with Palm Sunday, waving our own hand made palms, as Jesus entered into Jerusalem singing the words "Hosanna".  As disciples in our Catholic faith we recognise the miracles and love he poured out to all people who were vulnerable, needing courage, strength, direction and healing in many ways.  We too can be his disciples giving guidance and reminders of the faith and strength needed to continue to build the Kingdom of God here on earth.

The Last Supper & Washing of Feet

Class by class our students took part in The Last Supper sharing symbols of the body and blood of Christ with their friends at our school.

The Passion of Christ

Today we were inspired by the Year 5/6 students acting out Jesus' final steps to the cross, nothing short of reverence and such respect. The students also focused on the perspectives of the other disciples who had just come to terms with the massive loss in their lives of their confidante, their guide, their teacher and someone who they could trust. They knew that he did not deserve the treatment of his people and that he died for all of their sins.

Thanks to Amanda Hill our performing arts teacher, for preparing our students so well. It was an emotion filled performance by our students and it was hard to fight back the tears.

Holy Week Gift Bags - The True Meaning of Easter

Our students from Prep to Year 6 have prepared a bag of symbols to bring home this Easter which we pray adds meaning to their understanding of the true meaning of Easter.
