13th February - National Apology Day

Gallery Image

This year marks the 18th Anniversary of the 2008 formal apology to the Stolen Generation by then prime minister Kevin Rudd. The apology was given to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia, for the forced removal of children from their parents and community over generations. The day focuses on reflection, healing, and acknowledging the ongoing impact of forced removal policies.

At St Edward's School, we provide weekly Cultural Immersion lessons for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Year 2 Infants Leaders - Term 1

A huge congratulations to our Term 1 Infants Leaders!  Each term, new Infants Leaders from Year 2 are selected to be positive role models for our K - 2 students. Consent for Compass Events

It is important that parents and carers please ensure you regularly log onto your COMPASS parent portal and approve or decline any Events and/or complete Insights shown on there for your child/children. Thank you so much to the families who have already attended to this.

Medical Action Plans

Medical Action Plans were sent home late last year to all families who have children with Asthma, Seizures, Diabetes and Anaphylaxis. Parents are asked to update these forms annually, including a signature from your family doctor. Please return these signed Action Plans to school as soon as possible. Special thanks to the families who have already returned their child's plan.

Parents of students who have been diagnosed with any of the above medical conditions since enrolling are asked to advise either school office ASAP so a Medical Action Plan can be processed and sent home.

This year at the Infants Campus, we will again be offering snack items and frozen treats for Infants students to purchase on the set days of Wednesday and Friday only.  Spending limits are $3 per child. The Infants Canteen is operated by Mrs Anna Jefferys at lunch time only from 1.30 - 1.50pm.

Change in Afternoon Routine

Can you please advise the school office by no later than 2:30 pm if there is any change in your child's afternoon routine.

Second Hand Clothing Pool

Our second-hand clothing pool is open from 8.30am to 3.30pm each school weekday at both the Primary and Infants Campus.  Most second-hand items are $5.00 each.  Please see the office staff for further details.

If your child has outgrown any of their uniforms, we would welcome any donations from parents. Thank you.

Student Absences

It is vital that all student absences are explained on the Compass platform. Please note the following important guidelines:

  • Time limit: You must explain all absences on Compass within 7 calendar days of the absence occurring.

  • Outcome: Once the 7-day period has passed, you will no longer be able to make any changes, and the unexplained absence will be reflected in your child’s end-of-semester school report.

  • Action: If your child is absent, please log on to Compass and explain the absence on the day it occurs, if possible.

  • Reminders: Please be aware of the automated reminder messages sent out via Compass:

    • A text message is sent on the day of absence at 10:00am.

    • A second reminder for any outstanding unexplained absences for the week is emailed every Friday at 11:00am.

Your prompt attention to this is greatly appreciated, as it helps us maintain accurate attendance records.  If you are having trouble accessing all of the Compass features, there is a drop-down menu on your homepage which looks like 3 horizontal lines. Open this menu and choose 'open in browser'. This will help you access the school portal features.

Application for Extended Leave - 10 days or more

Family holidays and travel are no longer considered under the Exemption from School Procedures. Travel outside of vacation periods is now counted as an absence for statistical purposes. Please contact the school office if your child/ren will be away from school for 10 days or more, as an application form will need to be completed and approved at the discretion of the Principal.

2027 Kindergarten Enrolments - ENROL NOW
