Principal's Message

Lenten Prayer

Dear Lord,

Lord, may this season of Lent be a time of renewal for our hearts.

Help us to speak with kindness, act with compassion,

and walk closer to You each day.

Amen.

Embracing the Spirit of Lent in Our School Community

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we move into 2026, we find ourselves entering the sacred season of Lent. This is a time for our community at St Andrew’s  to pause, reflect, and engage in spiritual growth. Lent offers us a valuable opportunity to recalibrate our hearts and strengthen our connection with our faith and one another.

Lent is a journey of 40 days, mirroring Jesus’ time in the desert. It calls us to reevaluate our priorities through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. As a school community, we invite you to join us in embracing these teachings in simple, meaningful ways.

Living Lent in the School

To help our students and families navigate this season, we are focusing on four key areas:

  • Prayer and Reflection: We encourage families to take a few moments each day for quiet reflection. In the classroom, we are beginning our mornings with intentional mindfulness to foster gratitude. We invite you to join us on Ash Wednesday for 12pm Mass or Lenten prayer services leading up to Easter.
  • Acts of Kindness: We are challenging our students to perform "Small Acts with Great Love." Whether it’s helping a peer or a kind word to a teacher, these gestures build the foundation of our community.
  • Purposeful Fasting: Beyond traditional fasting, we invite students to consider "fasting" from habits that hold them back—such as excessive screen time or negative speech—to make more room for positive connection.

Parish Connections & Lenten Activities

Our school’s spiritual life is deeply intertwined with St Andrew’s Parish. We encourage you to participate in the local parish activities to further enrich your Lenten journey:

  • Stations of the Cross: Join the parish community every Friday evening at 7:00 PM in the Church for a meditative walk through the Passion of Christ.
  • Project Compassion: Our students will be collecting for Caritas Australia.
  • Lenten Pilgrimage on 14 March
  • Sacramental Preparation: Please keep an eye on the Parish Newsletter for upcoming reconciliation times during this penitential season.

In embracing the spirit of Lent, we strengthen the bonds that unite us and deepen our commitment to the values of compassion and integrity. May this season be an opportunity for growth, reflection, and a collective renewal of our shared purpose.

As morning supervision does not begin until 8.30am for the health and safety of all students, please register your child in OSHC, if you require them to be onsite before 8:30am.
