Preps

Our Prep students have made a fantastic start to the school year. They have settled into classroom routines with confidence and enthusiasm, forming new friendships and becoming familiar with their learning spaces. Students have shown great engagement during lessons, eagerly participating in activities and asking thoughtful questions as they explore new ideas. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity, excitement, and growing independence as they begin their learning journey. We are so proud of how positively they have embraced school life and look forward to an exciting year ahead.
In Maths, we have been looking at number formation and counting. Students have been using hands-on manipulatives to ensure their count is accurate and the importance of double checking. Our daily number formation warm-ups is teaching us resilience and that the more we practice the better we get.
In Literacy, we have been soaking up new sounds and letters and trying to find them in the beginning of words. We have had lots of conversations of finding letters in our names, in words that we can see around the place and wondering if they start with our focus letters. Our knowledge building unit is underway where we are exploring the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. Students have learnt new vocabulary, they have answered and asked questions to gain further understanding of the story and recited the famous text through drama.
Wellbeing sessions has taught students how mistakes are a special place were learning happens. We are learning how to positively be in this space and to keep pushing past the uncomfortable feeling to reach success.
