Years 5–12 Assessment Information for 2026
Over the next week or so, families and students will be able to access the Years 5–11 Assessment Handbooks and the Year 12 Assessment Tasks Calendar for 2026 via the relevant CANVAS Year pages and Parent Orbit App. Year 12 students received their Assessment Handbook at the beginning of Term 4 last year.
Each Assessment Handbook provides an overview of the assessment requirements for all subjects studied during the year. The handbooks include the College’s Assessment Policy, assessment schedules or plans, and an Assessment Tasks Calendar. Examination rules for Years 9–12 are also available on CANVAS.
These handbooks act as the official guide to assessment for the year, helping students and families understand what is expected and when. From time to time, teachers or Heads of Department may provide additional information for specific subjects or tasks.
We encourage all students to take time to read through this information so they can plan ahead and develop effective study routines. The College’s Assessment Program is carefully designed to give students a range of opportunities to demonstrate their learning and achieve their best.
While every effort is made to keep assessment information accurate, minor changes may occasionally be necessary. If this occurs, families and students will be informed well in advance.
All assessment policies and procedures follow the guidelines of the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and are designed to be fair and supportive of students. These policies help ensure equity by recognising students who:
complete their work diligently
understand the academic expectations of the College
submit their own work on time
notify the College in advance where possible if they will be absent
provide appropriate medical documentation when required
discuss assessment results with their teacher when tasks are returned.
Students who are absent on the day an assessment task is due or scheduled will be expected to submit or complete the task on the day they return to school.
We strongly encourage parents/carers to read the assessment information with their sons. Clear assessment processes, combined with quality teaching and strong wellbeing support, allow the College to maintain high academic standards. The College’s consistently strong results in external assessments such as NAPLAN and the Higher School Certificate reflect this commitment.
If at any stage, questions arise, in the first instance, please reach out to the relevant teacher or Head of Department.
