Parent Information Night New and Specialist Staff Video
During our recent Parent Information Nights, we shared a video introducing our new staff and specialist teachers for the year. If you were unable to attend, please click on the following link to see what was shared.
Foundation Student's First Day
We so enjoyed beginning school at Pilgrim. Our first day was full of fun and creating name labels for our trays and learning new routines and getting to know our buddies. We look forward to an exciting year ahead.
Seesaw
Please check you are linked to your child's new class for 2026. It should have automatically connected you but if there are any issues, please contact your child's teacher first and they can resend an invite. Please check under your name on the Seesaw app that the class is connected there too.
We want you to connect with your child's journal to see their work and celebrate their successes along the way. Students will add to their journal's photos, art pieces, work completed and tests they may undertake too, plus many other things that they would love you to see. This is a great way of seeing how your child is tracking through the term even before Parent Teacher Interviews and reports.
Pilgrim Choir Years 3 - 6
Pilgrim Choir is back for 2026! Now in its fourth year, Pilgrim Choir is open to all interested students from Years 3 - 6. Choir rehearsals take place in Lesson 6 on Mondays, with class teachers ensuring that this does not impact on student learning. After a wonderful year last year competing in the Adelaide Choral Eisteddfod and performing both for school events such as the musical, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, the Christmas Celebration and in the wider community at Seeds Church, we look forward to once again singing both in the school and in the wider community. This year we will continue to be accompanied by old scholar, Josh Tretheway, with some senior students also contributing on their instruments.
Over the last two weeks all students in Years 3 – 6 had the opportunity to come and experience singing in the Choir. Interested students will now be asked to make a commitment to the Choir and an opt in event has been created for families to provide their consent and agree to the expectations of choir participation.
We look forward to another wonderful year of singing. If you have any questions about Choir, please feel free to contact me.

Premier's be Active Challenge
Pilgrim School will be running the ‘Premier’s be Active Challenge’ in 2026. This is the 20th year of the Premier's be Active Challenge which started in 2007.
The Premier’s be active Challenge is a physical activity program introduced to:
- encourage students to be more active more often
improve the health and wellbeing of South Australian students.
Guidelines to complete the Premier’s be active Challenge:
- Every student must have their activity recorded in the student recording booklet. These can be downloaded from Compass School Documentation or ask your child to collect one from the Front Office.
Complete at least 60 minutes of physical activity on at least 5 days of the week for at least 4 weeks between Week 1, Term 1 and Week 10 Term 3 and record it.
Please note there is an option for a 4 week, 10 week or special 20 week challenge (for 2026 only).
- Students must have their record verified by a parent, caregiver or teacher.
- Pass on the completed Student Record to the Front Office by the designated due date.
- Receive an award in late November.
Research has shown that parental support makes a difference to how active children are. One of the biggest factors in helping children to be active is providing support to participate in physical activity. Whether that is getting them to sports, taking them to the playground, riding your bike with them or simply encouraging them outside to play, these are all things that will help your child to be active.
The Premier’s be Active Challenge is most successful when parents show interest and support their children. Help your child get 60 minutes of physical activity per day and you will be making a positive difference to their future. It’s also a great way to be more active yourself!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.

NAPLAN Nationally Coordinated Practice Test
On Tuesday 24th February, Pilgrim School will be participating in the NAPLAN Coordinated Practice Test (CPT) for Year 3 and 5 students. This is a requirement for all schools running NAPLAN, which takes place in Weeks 7 and 8 (11th – 23rd March). The purpose of the CPT is to test the systems used to run NAPLAN and how our own IT infrastructure will manage the demand. Student results are not reported. It is also a good opportunity for students to become more familiar with the online platform. The test contains a mixture of reading, conventions of language and numeracy questions and will take 45 minutes.
School of Languages
We are so glad to host the School of Languages for Mandarin lessons at Pilgrim School!
Families can sign up their children for classes held weekly in our Oasis building after school on Thursdays.
We have been told the School of Languages will look to start Auslan classes again later this year due to a staffing issue at the start of the year. Please contact them to express interest if your child would like to take up this opportunity.

New Chickens for 2026
We are very proud to introduce you to the Pilgrim chickens for this year, a wonderful gift from the Cooke family. The Year 3/4 cohort have a special role at Pilgrim School overseeing the care and maintenance of chickens. Every class is encouraged to be part of the joy and wonder of spending time with animals to help make it a success.
Eggs collected will be used at School and scraps from classrooms (not citrus peel or banana skins) and the Pilgrim Garden will be fed to the chickens to keep them in prime condition and feeling happy.
If you would like to know any more about the program, please have a chat to the Year 3 students and their teachers.

Year 3/4 Class Teacher
