Level 1 have had a fantastic start to the year and have all settled in really well.

They are becoming familiar with classroom routines, building positive relationships, and engaging enthusiastically in their learning.

We have enjoyed playing lots of Maths games. One of our favourites was Snakes and Ladders.

The students have also been busy learning more about themselves.

They created a colourful ice cream sundae representing who they are and the goals they have for the year ahead. In another creative task, they wrote and drew about their holidays using a camera template, capturing special memories and sharing their experiences with pride.

Another favourite activity was afternoon Developmental Play sessions where students worked together with their friends to build, create, and construct through play.

On Thursday, our Level 1 and Level 6 buddies enjoyed a very special outing to Petronella Avenue Playground for a picnic lunch and play, and it was a huge hit!

The excitement was high as students walked to the playground together, chatting and laughing with their buddies along the way.

Once there, everyone loved sitting together to enjoy their lunch before heading off to explore the playground. There was so much fun to be had on the equipment, with plenty of running and climbing.

It was wonderful to see the older students looking out for their younger buddies, helping them play, encouraging them, and sharing lots of smiles and laughter.

It has been a wonderful beginning to the year, and we are so excited to see the learning continue!

Level 2 has had a wonderful start to the school year!

We’ve been busy getting to know each other and building a strong classroom community, beginning with puzzle pieces that show how we all fit together.

Students worked cooperatively in teams to create colourful masks and retell the story of How the Birds Got Their Colours, sharing ideas and creativity along the way.

In Science, we explored sound and vibrations through the exciting dancing rice experiment, which was a big hit.

We learnt how talented Miss Holsinger is with a ukulele during our level singalong!

It’s been a fun, hands-on start full of teamwork, learning, and smiles.

The Level 3 students have had a fantastic start to 2026!

We ventured into the world of Year 3 for the very first time, and it has been so much fun. Students spent time getting to know their classmates and teachers by creating “All About Me” displays, which are now proudly hanging in our classrooms.

We also enjoyed learning about the other Level 3 classes as a cohort through a giant game of Human Bingo.

It has been wonderful to explore what it means to be in Level 3, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the term has in store.

Level 4

The Level 4 students have returned to the classroom with a fantastic attitude and enthusiasm for learning.

It has been wonderful to see how quickly they have settled into routines, reconnected with friends and embraced new challenges.

In mathematics, students have begun exploring place value through engaging activities such as Place Value Battles. These games have encouraged strategic thinking, collaboration and confidence when working with numbers.

We have also spent time building positive classroom connections, including a fun “Get to Know You” snowball fight activity that had everyone laughing while learning more about one another.

Students explored the water cycle using a “water cycle in a bag” experiment, observing evaporation, condensation and precipitation as water changed states when placed in a sunny window.

Level 4 is off to a positive and energetic start to the year and are excited for what lies ahead.

Level 5

Level 5 students have had a wonderful start to the year!

They have settled in and participated in a range of getting-to-know-you activities that have helped build positive relationships and a strong classroom community.

One of our activities was a gratitude reflection with the prompt ‘I can’t imagine life without…’ Not only did this assist in getting to know each other better but also remind us what is important to each of us. They look great!

Preparations are under way for our camp to ‘The Portsea Camp’ in week 4. We will be the first group from Jells Park Primary to visit this camp and are super excited to experience all the activities offered, including water activities! Camp will provide valuable opportunities for students to develop resilience, increase their independence and strengthen friendships while creating lasting memories together.

We can’t wait!

Level 6 students have settled back into 2026, making a great start to the year.

They’ve enjoyed diving into their swimming program, building skills, fitness and confidence in the water.

Alongside this, the school’s ‘Great Start’ program has helped students reconnect with routines, expectations and each other, setting a positive tone for the busy year ahead.

The Level 6 students have also completed a characteristics survey to help them identify personal characteristics and strengths.
