On Wednesday 22nd May, our junior classes welcomed the band “I Hold the Lion’s Paw”. We enjoyed singing along with them, and had great fun making up our own actions to the music. We learned about the trumpet, drums, bass guitar, synthesiser and singing. Ronnie, Adam, Emily and Reuben performed their own music while including us in their fun and games.
Ivy, 2B
My favourite bit was when they rolled the dice because there were some silly moves!
Charlotte, 2B
My favourite bit was when they rolled the dice and teached (sic) us all about them. My number on the dice was six because then we could do whatever we wanted!
Lucy, 2C
I liked the concert because there was lots of music and we got to make up our own actions.
Mattea, 2C
I liked the concert because we did some funny noises and Emily (band member) was really good at the loooooong note!
On Thursday 23rd May, Modern Choir travelled by bus to St Kilda Town Hall where we were the entertainment for a City of Port Phillip Citizenship Ceremony. This marvellous performance opportunity included wonderful hospitality, opportunities to sing, and a chance to share a very special occasion with many new Australians. We were honoured to be a part of this significant day.
Mila, 3B
We just did a performance at the St Kilda City Hall. I just wanted to share a few things with you that went well: I like how we all smiled and enjoyed it. I liked how we made a mistake, but we solved it easily.
Lacey, 3A
I was part of the Choir, too. I liked that lots of people in the audience smiled and joined in to sing Advance Australia Fair with us. We were really lucky because they provided a really yummy morning tea and made us feel comfortable.
Anika & Ella, 5B
We think it was a great opportunity for the Years 2 – 6 students to perform for a live audience. We think it was a really good experience, and we’re really happy to have represented our school as performers. We had a great time and ate some great food!
Amira, 5B
I thought it was an incredible experience for all of the Modern Choir, especially the leaders, to perform in front of a large audience and help make them Australian citizens. And the egg salad sandwiches were amazing as well!
Giselle, 6B
I thought it was amazing how as we sang our songs, the new Australian citizens sang along with us.
Saskia, 3B
At the citizenship ceremony, when we sang the national anthem at the end, everyone was smiling and waving their flags!
Ivy, 3B
I liked seeing some familiar faces, and I liked people becoming Australian citizens, and they appreciated our singing.
