Course selection underway

It was great to chat to so many students and families at the Subject Expo held at NHS on Wednesday 29 May. With course selection for 2025 now in full swing, remember that if you need an appointment you will need to book early! Students can find the link to make an appointment via Teams. Parents can access via Compass School Documentation. 

Parent Careers Workshop

Thanks to all the families who registered and attended the Career Conversations workshop run by Tyson on Tuesday evening. We encourage parents to keep an open mind about their child’s career path. Statistically, our current cohorts will have 5 differing career specialisations over 15 jobs in their lifetime. Working on soft skills, lifelong learning and understanding the careers landscape will be central to successfully navigating the complex gig economy into the future. 

Year 12s

Most subjects are half-way mark of their course! Although I am not taking Year 12 appointments in June, we will commence the process of transition planning and tertiary study applications in late July. To prepare for this, students should ensure that:

• They have their USI (Unique Student Identifier). Go to www.usi.gov.au for more information.
• Students should also ensure that have, or have applied for, a Tax File Number. Go to https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Tax-file-number/Apply-for-a-TFN/ 

There are many universities running tours and events over the holidays and students can find out more about these on university websites. It’s time to start seriously thinking about life after High School for the Class of 2024
