Art of Science

Environmental and anatomical artworks

Year 9 'Art of Science' students during term one were focusing on environmental issues that were personal or that interested us and were to make an artwork to reflect that issue to bring awareness to it. Every student had a creative approach to the task, and each artwork is unique and personal to the artist where no two artworks are the same, even if they reflect the same issue. We went for walks through the Merri Creek drawing the nature that was all around us using different materials such as charcoal and overall every student had a great time during this project and over the course of this term.

In term two we began to take a more internal approach to our artwork which is all about how art is linked to science through anatomical artworks and how this has changed over the centuries. In week 5, students went to the anatomy and pathology museum at Melbourne University where we gathered insight into how the body parts we are focusing on look and gathered inspiration and references for our upcoming artworks.
