Public Speaking Competition
The excitement was palpable on the 19TH of May as the annual Rostrum: Voice of Youth public speaking competition took place, bringing together some of the most talented and articulate young voices from our community. Among these students were our very own Tyson Turker and Aiden Turker, who represented our school with incredible poise and passion.
The day was filled with anticipation and enthusiasm, as participants took to the stage to share their perspectives on various thought-provoking topics. The atmosphere buzzed with energy, as each speaker brought their unique style and insights, captivating the audience and judges alike.
Both Tyson and Aiden delivered a compelling speech that showcased their remarkable ability to engage and inspire. Both students demonstrated great confidence and skill. While Tyson didn't advance to the semi-finals, his contribution was invaluable and he left a lasting impression on everyone present.
Aiden Turker, on the other hand, achieved a significant milestone by making it to the semi-finals. Aiden's journey through the competition was a testament to his hard work and dedication and his success in reaching the semi-finals was a proud moment for all of us.
We extend our congratulations to both Tyson and Aiden Turker for their outstanding performances. Their participation in The Rostrum has not only brought pride to our school but has also set a shining example for their peers.
We are thrilled to announce that our school's debating team emerged victorious in the recent competition, winning by a narrow margin of just one point. The team, comprising
Jake Proctor, Vivian Tang, Annie Zhou, Jake Chen, and Clara Koodravsev, showcased their exceptional debating skills, despite the challenge of preparing for a secret topic with only one hour of preparation time.
Each member played a crucial role in the success, displaying remarkable teamwork, quick thinking, and articulate argumentation. A special congratulations goes to Jake Proctor, who was awarded Best Speaker for his outstanding performance.
This triumph is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students. We are immensely proud of Jake, Vivian, Annie, Jake, and Clara for their achievement and look forward to their future successes in the debating arena.
