Middle School Report

MIDDLE SCHOOL  REPORT 

As we head towards the Term 2 holidays it is incredible to think we are nearly halfway through the school year already!

Our middle school student have exams just around the corner. As mentioned previously the focus is on our students experiencing what it is like to sit and study for exams as they will do in their senior years.

We have seen numerous teams go out for inter school sports – basketball, soccer,  badminton and AFL. Thank you to the sport teachers for giving up time to train and coach the kids on the day.

Our Outdoor Ed and Advance programs have continued to provide our students with opportunities to experience activities out in the community. Bushwalking, Advance Camp and Indoor Rock Climbing were some of the experiences on offer.

Our students are now preparing for their Course Counselling which begins immediately in Term 3. There will be compass feeds and letters sent to families to inform all of the process.

•  VCE Information Night @ RHS in the PAC.

Year 9 Wednesday July 24 - 6.00 – 7.00

Year 10 Wednesday July 17 - 6.00 – 7.00

• Friday August 2, Course Counselling at school in the Library
• Friday August 8 - meeting with Counsellors and Parents, from 1.30 – 7.30

Pat Cronin Foundation:

On the morning of Friday May17th, Aidan Phelan, from the Pat Cronin Foundation visited to present to the year 9s about violence prevention. The foundation was established by Matt and Robyn Cronin in memory of their 19-year-old son who was killed by a coward punch he received outside of a Diamond Creek hotel in 2016. The foundation has since delivered presentations to thousands of students around Australia and been the subject of a number of fundraisers and community initiatives.

Aidan's presentation spoke about the importance of emotional regulation, thinking before acting, making wise decisions, and how to identify and respond to a potentially violent situation without using violence.
