Be Bold Be Heard
On Friday, May 17th, Belmont High hosted the Be Bold, Be Heard forum. 130 different girls from 14 different schools came together to collaborate on ideas and learn from guest speakers.
There were five different guest speakers: Yvonne Van De Ploeg, Amy Rashid, Alcy Meehan, Sarah Mansfield, and Sonja Roguljic. It was so good to get to hear about all their different experiences, and then everyone had a chance to ask questions.
The guest speakers shared their journey and challenges and gave us all great insight into how we can become leaders in the future on any pathway. We had two yoga instructors come in the morning and lead two sessions with the girls, which really helped everyone get settled in.
We then got to experience a session in the Biolab learning about sports records. The whole day overall was really fun, and we all had a great time talking to all the other girls there and learning what their schools are like.
All the school teams had time and support to work on our own action plans to make positive improvements in schools for young females.
Last year our team worked on uniform improvements. This year we are looking at ways girls can be more active at school.
The Be Bold Be Heard initiative has been a great way for female leaders in our school to develop their skills and make positive changes.
