Year 7 Science Discovery Dome Incursion Thursday 16th May.
On Thursday 16th May, we were lucky enough to have Nick from Science Discovery Dome come to our school to present a lesson on Astronomy to all our Year 7 students. Nick arrived early to set-up the 4-meter high dome and then throughout the day the Year 7 classes would rotate through 45-minute sessions inside the dome. The lesson revolved around projections being displayed upon the whole inside of the roof and walls of the dome, showing everything from the constellations, moon phases, tides, solar and lunar eclipses, and how the seasons are impacted by the position of the Earth. The technology used was incredible and it was a very stimulating and engaging session for our students to further consolidate their understanding of Astronomy!
