Careers News

FACT:  Those who have goals are 10 times more likely to succeed than those without goals

It is that time of the year when our students are busy completing assessment tasks and exams, and considering the next stage of their lives post school. It is an important time for Year 12 students, as UAC is open for university preferences, and several universities are now open for Early Admissions. Last week I presented to our Year 12 students a seminar titled “Your Life, Your Choice”. I began to explore with students the changing world of careers based on the latest data from Job and Skills Australia (April, 2024). We discussed where the jobs are now, and the projections for employment growth in the future (see below).

Our Year 12 students were then given the opportunity to attend the Sutherland Shire Career Expo. This was a great opportunity for students to visit over 140 exhibitors, including many universities, colleges, private institutions, ADF, NSW Police, QANTAS, ANSTO and Apprenticeship Centres. Year 12 students came away armed with plenty of information to assist them with their post school exploration.

UAC

Students in Year 12 who are interested in applying to study at university will need to use the UAC portal. This admission process is based on an ATAR, and students can submit up to 5 preferences (in order).

Key Dates

This year UAC is not producing a hard copy of the UAC Guide. Students instead will be directed to the UAC undergraduate search to find suitable courses at a variety of institutions.

UAC - Educational Access Schemes (EAS)

The Educational Access Scheme (EAS) aims to help students who have experienced significant educational disadvantage to receive an offer to university. Find out more information here:
