Questioning that leads to inferential thinking
Before reading a book: look at the front cover and record/discuss your thinking e.g. I wonder what they are waiting for?
After reading a book, discuss questions and the inferences we are making as we read.
"Waiting" by Kevin Henkes is a beautiful book that offers rich opportunities for discussion and exploration of themes, characters, and emotions. Grade 5/6 students engaged as a group, reading and sharing their thoughts and ideas to enhance their comprehension skills and foster a sense of community and collaboration in the classroom.
