Student Leaders Development Halogen Exucrion 2024
Last term in week 9, the student leaders headed to Perth to attend the annual Halogen Leadership conference. Halogen brings together students from all over Perth, and rural schools to be inspired to lead. Students are provided with the opportunity to hear from some of Australia’s most high-profile people as they share their insights from their own leadership journey.
Among the speakers on the day some of our favourites were Bryson Klein who is a multiple Australian Ninja Warrior grand finalist. Bryson
was also part of the winning team at the ‘USA Versus the World’ team. He talked a lot about bravery and shared that he has felt anxious before every great thing he’s done!
Another favourite was Gavin Aung Than. Gavin is a graphic novelist and New York Times bestselling cartoonist. He shared some great tips on pursuing your dreams and taking risks. Gavin also recently published his first children’s picture book, ‘Baa Baa Black Belt’. You can find an autographed copy of the book in our library here at school.
Other highlights on the day were meeting the speakers and joining in activities held during break times, and the bus ride home. It was a long day but a great day!
