Captains Corner

By Jonathan 6E

Hi everyone and welcome to another Captain’s Corner!

On the 22nd of May, our school held the National Simultaneous Story-time. Every grade read the book ‘Bowerbird Blues’ and used their metacognition and knowledge to analyse the text and enjoy the book. This was great fun as not only did we get to enjoy a great book, we also completed some amazing learning tasks too!

Over the past two weeks, our amazing 18 Mass Dancers from Level 5 and 6 along with the Performing Arts Captains proudly represented the GWPS community at Oakleigh South Primary School, as they rehearsed their dances for the Victorian State School Spectacular (VSSS). How they can remember all of those steps is amazing! Well done everyone and keep practicing because the VSSS is not far away.

On the 31st of May, our school had our Crazy Hair Day! Lots of students used their creativity to come up with the craziest hair you could ever imagine and, at the same time we raised approximately $500 to support our sponsored Australian child Caspian who is in Year Prep at another school. Well done everyone!

On Monday the 3rd and Tuesday 4th June, the Grade 3’s had a fabulous day learning about animals, their habitats and the environment at Healesville Sanctuary. When they got back to school they looked a little tired, but wow, they learnt so much and had a great time as well.

Thank you for reading and I wish you a good day!
