UTAS Medical Sciences Taster Day
Pictured above and below: Years 10-12 students were given the unique opportunity to visit the Medical Sciences Precinct at the University of Tasmania and engage with staff across multiple disciplines in a day of activities.
Winter woolies out in force!
Fleecy pyjamas, Ugg boots and Oodies were out in force today as students and staff layered up to keep warm and do their bit for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Thanks to the wonderful generosity of our SMC community, our Winter Woolies/Pyjama Day was a success, raising more than $770 which will help those doing it tough this winter.
For extra warmth, students enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate on the College Green at recess today, kindly supplied by Vinnies Loui's Van as part of their fundraising efforts.
Special thanks to Tilford Auto Group for sponsoring our new House donation bins—we think they look pretty flash, especially now they're bursting with donations!
Please note, donations of winter clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, along with hygiene and non-perishable food items, are being accepted until the end of this week, and we encourage you all to dig deep where you can. Every little bit counts!

Kinder mud play
Our Kinders joined together with Kinder students from St Virgil's College for an afternoon of bush play. The children had the world at their fingertips as they explored their natural surroundings, climbed trees, foraged for sticks and leaves, and leapt in muddy puddles.
Reconciliation Week artwork
“True reconciliation is a journey, not a destination. It requires patience, understanding and a willingness to learn from one another. So let us embark on this adventure of truth telling together.
Let us walk together in a movement of the Australian people for a better future. Let us forge a path of reconciliation, guided by truth, justice and love, so that together, we may build a nation where all Australians stand as one.” – Ada Hauler and Grace Cox (Year 12)
As part of our Reconciliation Week focus, students have been busy creating artwork showcasing the inspirational lives of First Nations heroes throughout history. See some of their wonderful creations below.
In Prep, our First Nations Faciliator, Claire Raward was invited into the classroom to read the story Somebody's Land: Welcome to our Country by Adam Goodes and Ellie Laing, which invited lots of challenging and intelligent questions from the Preps.
