Recognising and Supporting Positive Student Behaviour
Families may have noticed some changes to the information they are seeing in Compass about their child’s behaviour and engagement at school.
This term, we have introduced some updates to our Chronicle system to help us better recognise positive behaviour, communicate concerns early, and support students to develop positive habits for learning.
One of the most pleasing changes has been an increased focus on Green Chronicles, which staff use to acknowledge students demonstrating our school values and making positive contributions to their learning and our community. It has been wonderful to see so many students coming into our Sub School offices to be recognised for the Green Chronicles they have received. As students accumulate Green Chronicles, they also reach different achievement levels, giving us more opportunities to celebrate their efforts and positive choices.
For those of you who like data, after only a term of activating our new system you can see in the table below the amount of students who have achieved each level at the time of writing this article.

We have also made it easier for teachers to record and communicate some of the smaller things that can affect learning, such as being prepared for class, appropriate use of devices, uniform, or minor classroom behaviour concerns. This means families may notice more information appearing in Compass than they have previously. We encourage you to use this information to have a conversation with your young person about being prepared for learning and getting the most from their lessons. If you have any questions about any of the posts, please reach out to the classroom teacher or Year Level Program Leader who first wrote it as a first point of call.
We hope these changes will support useful conversations between students, families and staff, while ensuring that positive behaviour and contribution receive just as much attention as the times when students need some additional guidance.
