Fred Hollows Fundraiser

Students Take a Shot for Fred Hollows

On Friday 4 September, our school community came together for a free dress day, BBQ and basketball free throw competition to raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation. The atmosphere at lunchtime was fantastic, with students lining up for sausages, testing their skills in the free throw competition and enjoying music outside the gym.

A huge thank you to the VCE VM students for bringing both their basketball and DJ skills- the event would not have been the same without you!

Together, we raised approximately $2,025 - including $1,020 from free dress donations and $1,005 from the BBQ. Because as little as $25 can help restore sight in some countries, our contribution could help restore sight for up to 80 people.

The Fred Hollows Foundation works in more than 25 countries. In 2025 alone, it screened more than 6.1 million people, delivered over 511,000 eye operations and treatments, distributed nearly 149,000 pairs of glasses, and trained almost 49,000 health workers, teachers and surgeons. The Foundation also reports that nine out of ten people who are blind or vision impaired do not need to be.

Thank you to everyone who donated, bought a sausage, joined the competition or helped run the event. We are incredibly proud of what our school community achieved together!
