During the first three weeks of Term 2, I will be on sabbatical leave, accompanied by Mrs Jolliffe. Sabbatical is a dedicated period for professional study, available to school Principals and their spouses every five years in many educational institutions.
Over the course of 18 working days, we plan to visit approximately twenty schools, engage with two universities (Oxford in the UK and Youngstown in the US), and meet with three churches involved in ministry to university students. The aim of our sabbatical is to explore best practices in the area of spiritual formation for students, identifying what is effective and beneficial that could be thoughtfully integrated into the life of NCS.
During my absence, Mr McLennan will serve as Acting Principal for the Primary School, while Mr Asher will oversee responsibilities as Acting Principal for the Secondary School. Mrs Jolliffe’s classes will be well looked after by Mr Fraser, a retired Mathematics teacher with a wealth of experience.
Our staff have recently completed their Level 0 Mountain Bike Skills Course & we’re excited to introduce Mountain Biking (MTB) as a Sport & Rec option next term! To support our staff instructors, we’re looking for 2-3 old mountain bikes that families may be willing to donate to the school.
If you have a bike in usable condition that you’d like to donate, please contact Miss Bignell nikkibignell@ncs.nsw.edu.au
Student supervision begins at 8:10 am. Parents are asked not to drop students at school before this time. It is understood that buses arrive earlier than this. For those students who routinely arrive by bus before 8:10, they are expected to sit until supervision begins. It is suggested that they have a book or something else to do during this time.
