College Captains

19th March 2025: The Captains from all four schools in Mareeba attended the Rotary Student Leaders dinner. Please see the report below from St Stephen’s College Captains.
Rotary Young Leaders Dinner Summary:
We had the privilege of attending the Mareeba Rotary Young Leaders Dinner, where we, as College Captains, shared our vision and goals for 2025.
Our speech touched on four key areas: leadership, operations, excellence, and community. We discussed our commitment to fostering leadership by being approachable and supportive of all students. Through the Student Agency Team (SAT), we aim to amplify student voices, encourage meaningful discussions, and mentor younger students.
We highlighted our dedication to excellence, emphasising the importance of preparing students for life beyond college through tailored learning strategies and outstanding academic results. We also underscored the value of community, outlining our efforts to create a safe and harmonious environment that nurtures lifelong learning, adaptability, and curiosity.
In essence, we emphasised that student voices are at the core of our initiatives, driving growth, success, and a sense of belonging for everyone at St Stephen’s Catholic College.
Term 1 – Student Agency Report
Delivered at the College Assembly (Week 7) by the College Captains
At our recent college assembly, we addressed the college and presented our first Student Agency Team address, a segment that team members will continue throughout the year. We had the opportunity to present students with ideas and feedback from the student agency team and our home form representatives. Ideas included increasing the range of our speaker system, improving our shaded areas, and improving seating options.
We also expressed our gratitude to College Family Connect for our new cold-water bubblers, which have been a wonderful addition to our environment. We would like to thank College Family Connect for their unmatched support and dedication to student well-being. This came from student feedback presented to the SAT in 2024, demonstrating the commitment and the place that student voice holds within the college.
