Supporting students to thrive in the pursuit of Personal Bests
At Moama Anglican Grammar our staff are unwaveringly committed to supporting our students to thrive and grow in all learning environments as they pursue their personal bests.
Through student access to and participation in our broad Academic, Pastoral, Co-Curricular and/or Extra-Curricular Programs, we provide pathways opportunities and extension learning programs which support and enable student growth, the development of learning confidence and the acquisition of transferable life skills.
It has filled me with joy over the past fortnight to speak with a selection of students and families, some in a formal setting and others whilst in passing throughout the school day, to discuss examples of students thriving in our learning environments.
Examples of such discussions with students and families include.
The elation of a Year 10 student achieving a B in a Mathematics Assessment compared to previous assessment results.
A discussion regarding one student’s invitation to represent our school in the prestigious International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) All-Stars competition in Sydney – a competition which recognises the top academic achievers in the state.
A conversation with another student about their participation in the Secondary Interschool Swimming Sports in Wagga Wagga, where the student broke a regional record.
A discussion with students regarding their enthusiasm to represent our school in Interschool Equestrian Competitions as part of our newly formed Equestrian Team.
Speaking with students returning from our Monday afternoon Learn to Row Program to hear about their experience and enjoyment in trying something new.
Supporting Year 7 students whilst on the recent Year 7 Camp to navigate homesickness and to experience standing up on a surfboard for the first time.
Discussions with students and parents before and post completion of their events at the recent Victorian Little Athletics State Championships.
Engaging with students in our Visual Arts Program to learn about their work and to hear about their experience when working with residential artist, Mulga, to assist with the completion of our new mural.
Discussions with students and families at our recent Parent Teacher Interview evenings.
Each of these conversations shine a light on and celebrate diverse examples of student growth, and examples of students passionately engaging in their learning and pursuing personal bests across the life of our school.
It is a genuine privilege for our staff, students and families to work together in partnership to enable students to pursue their personal bests.
It is WHY we exist.
Kind regards,
Mr Scott Downward
