Two weeks ago, we had 11 members of the Wheelers Hill Lions Club join the 3/4s for lunch and had a tour of the garden. They will be helping us with some projects next term. Watch this space!
We have spent this week baking hot cross(less) buns! Delicious!! Recipe is below or in Google classroom.
Garden
Our small seeds have grown quickly, and most have been planted in the garden. This week we will have them all planted out and some seedlings that were kindly donated.
The 5/6s had a visit from Monash council with their "wonderful waste" presentation. A comment after the session was "Thank you for such a great session. We were so impressed with how engaged and knowledgeable the students were.
Thank you to all of the classroom teachers for their support and assistance with running the session".
Last week we visited the Melbourne International Garden & Flower Show, and the weather was fantastic to wonder around engage in different activities. The first stop was to visit George the scarecrow who didn't win any prizes, but we were very proud to enter him in the competition. George arrived back at school yesterday with a friend whose school is in the country, and they couldn't get down to pick up their scarecrow, so we are looking after "Ben" till the school holidays. The students planted a green vegetable, looked around a tree challenge and where trees should be planted, guessed what vegetable was in the box, admired the beautiful fountain, planted a bulb (some groups meet a basketball team there as well), looked at different insects in the garden, saw some of the landscaping designs, made seed bombs, swapped a plastic planter pot for a planter made of wool, and indoors admired the dresses made out of nature.
