Grade 3-6:

Reading:
Both the Grade 3/4A class and the Grade 4/5A class finished reading their mentor text of 'Matilda' and were lucky enough to also watch the 1996 Movie last week at school. It was really nice to watch the movie to finish up the study of this book and have detailed discussions about the similarities/differences between the movie and the book. Both Mr Noordhoff's and Mr Williamson's class completed book reviews, character descriptions and book summaries as their final activities for this mentor text.
The Grade 5/6A finished with their study of the book 'War Horse' and were able to have some great discussions about their thoughts on this book and what they really enjoyed in the novel. Overall, the students in the 5/6A class really enjoyed learning all about the themes and characters in 'War Horse.
Lily the Papillon Dog:
Mr Williamson's family dog came in and surprised his class last Monday for a fun day with the lucky students.
Writing:
Grade 3/4A, Grade 4/5A and Grade 5/6A have been continuing with their study of Persuasive Writing. Each student was able to complete a persuasive writing piece focused on the topic "Should students wear schools uniforms to school?" Students were given the option to agree or disagree with this topic and were needing to write a full persuasive writing piece with descriptive vocabulary.
Maths:
All classes in the senior module have continued with their topic of 'Shapes' and have included their students in a wide range of individual and teamwork activities. The three classes in the senior module have been able to include themselves in a wide range of activities focusing on their understanding of 2D and 3D shapes. Students have also been able to learn about both Area and Perimeter.
Term 1, 2025:
Students in the Senior Module have had an exciting last 2 weeks of the Term 1 for the 2025 school year. Grade 3-6 students participated in the The Colour Fun Run (Friday the 21st of March), Attended the Melbourne Flower and Garden Show (Thursday the 27th of March) and went to the Tree Top Adventures in Belgrave (Monday the 31st of March).
Thank you for an amazing start to the school year, Term 1 went by so fast and we are so proud of how hard the Grade 3-6 students are working. We hope you have a lovely 2 week holiday break and we will see you on Day 1 of Term 2.
Regards,
