Easter Raffle
I know Easter seems like a while ago but I haven't had a chance to thank our families for their generosity with this fundraising activity. Thanks to people donating Easter treats and buying raffle tickets we were able to raise $1581.15! We may be small but we are definitely mighty!!
School Attendance
At Lalor East, we prioritise regular school attendance. We will work with families to ensure students are in class with their peers and teachers and enjoying all the benefits that brings.
Attending school every day means experiencing what counts – the learning, friendship, fun and opportunities that can shape your child’s future.
Last year, students at our school missed on average 24 days of school.
We understand that there are times when your child will need to miss school but to ensure minimal disruption to their education, please consider scheduling family holidays or medical/dental appointments outside of school time. If your child is well enough to attend but is worried about friendships, schoolwork or exams, please encourage them to come to school. Avoiding school can make these feelings worse and can create a negative pattern of behaviour.
If your child is having difficulty attending school, talk to their teacher or our office staff to arrange an appointment with our Leadership Team about getting support.
We know that parents and carers can be juggling challenges daily to get your children to school. If your child must miss school, notify us as soon as possible via calling the school on 9465 4350 or by recording their absence on Compass so we can work together to support them.
For more information about the importance of everyday attendance, see Attendance and Missing School.
Remember, Every Day Counts!
Bikes in the school yard
It is wonderful to see so many children and parents riding bikes to school each day. It is great to be able to start the day with some physical exercise.
To ensure everyone stays safe, can we please ask that bikes are walked once you are in the school ground. There are always lots of people in the yard before school and we have had a couple of near misses when children have been riding their bikes and then nearly crashing into people. We appreciate everyone's cooperation with this request.
School Photos
Monday 12 May is school photo day. Please ensure your child is dressed in their school uniform and at school on time so they can be part of the photos. It is wonderful to have these photos to look back on in years to come and see how much they have grown and changed.
Flyers about how to order photos of your child were sent home. I have included the flyer here as well so you don't miss out!
Family Fun Night
I am very excited about our upcoming Family Fun Night on Thursday 15 May. It will be a wonderful opportunity for us to spend some time together playing games and having fun! These used to happen annually prior to COVID so it is fabulous we can bring this community event back.
Thank you to the families who have already let us know they will be attending. We have over 150 people set to join us on the night. To assist us with catering, please return the purple order form so we know how many sausages we need to order. We would hate anyone to miss out! I would like to acknowledge the generosity of TheirCare who are covering the cost of the sausages.
The fun starts at around 5 with the sausages and then officially kicks off at 6 for the games in the Octane Building. We will finish around 7:30. There are lots of prizes to win thanks to the generosity of The Smith Family and view (voice, interests and education of women).
We are very lucky to have such a wonderful supportive community to support these fun activities for our students and families.
