Persuasive Writing in 5/6C: Don’t Waste It!
In our recent writing lessons, students have been exploring the power of persuasive writing, learning how to structure their arguments to convince an audience.
Our focus has been on the theme "Don’t Waste It!", where students wrote letters to persuade their readers why something important should not be wasted. Each student chose a meaningful topic—whether it was reusing materials, recycling, preserving nature, conserving water, protecting historic buildings, valuing skills, or making the most of time.
Students structured their writing with: ✅ An introduction to present their topic and opinion. ✅ Strong reasons and explanations to support their viewpoint. ✅ A conclusion to reinforce their argument and persuade the reader.
Through this activity, students developed their ability to express clear opinions, use persuasive language, and back up their ideas with convincing reasons. Their letters showcased thoughtful perspectives and passionate arguments, demonstrating their growing skills as persuasive writers.
