A Term of Outstanding Success

Term 1 has been an outstanding success at EMC, reflecting the hard work by all members of our community. Our students and community have shown exceptional participation in all aspects of school, and we are incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made together. Throughout this term, our students have been actively involved in a range of settings, from working with local primary schools to kindergartens and contributing to aged care facilities. We hosted a massive Open Night, which showcased the pride our staff and students have in our college. Celebrating student learning, program offerings and our unique extracurricular opportunities. We celebrated outstanding student leaders at the Dame Elisabeth Commemoration and saw our leaders engage in a broad range of learning opportunities. Year 10 students enjoyed a valuable work experience period with record numbers finding valuable work placements. These students are accessing new opportunities including engineering, legal services, policing and the like. It is wonderful to see an increasing spread of career pathways and is a wonderful reflection on the work done by our careers team and the pathways to success teachers. Additionally, our Vocational Major students have continued to shine in structured work placements, demonstrating their character and commitment to being their best. Across the college, our students are excelling, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and achievements.

iCan Challenge – a huge success!

We are thrilled to announce that our iCAN challenge event has been a resounding success!

So far, we have raised over $275,000, over 550 students, parents, and staff participated in this mammoth walk, covering the distance from St Kilda to Frankston. A massive thanks to the support of our four primary schools: Woodlands, Langwarrin Park, Langwarrin Primary, and Pearcedale Primary School and the parents and friends who helped at the aid stations across the day. The event even made it to Channel 7 and Channel 9 news! The carnival finish was a wonderful way to welcome our hard working community.

This event has become of such significance that the Deputy Premier – Minister for Education Ben Carroll joined the students and walked the first 10km with the studentss, drawing the interest of Channel 7 and 9. Both stories can be found online.

As a community we are incredibly proud of the hard work and determination of every student that trained, walked and fundraised for the Good Friday Appeal – Royal Children’s Hospital.

But the journey isn’t over yet – we are still accepting donations before our official cheque is presented during the Good Friday Appeal on Friday, 19th April, live on Channel 7. If you would still like to contribute, please visit:

Sport at EMC – A Term Full of Action

This term has been an exciting one for sports at EMC! We kicked off with a fantastic Whole School Swimming Carnival, which led to several students advancing to the Regional Finals and even the State Finals. Our Senior, Year 8, and Year 7 sports teams have all excelled, bringing home numerous victories across the board. Congratulations to everyone who participated!

NAPLAN Success-

Our Year 7 and Year 9 students have completed the 2025 NAPLAN tests with flying colors. We are proud to report over 90% participation across both year levels. The behaviour and effort displayed by our students during the testing period were exceptional. Well done to all involved!

Primary School Visits – Connecting with Our Community.

This term, we have had the privilege of working with several local primary schools. Our students have truly shone in their ability to design and lead engaging programs, including the Vocational Major Mini Olympics, PAC Dance Students’ Dance Classes, and Student Attribute Program (SAP) community projects. Additionally, our students assisted with local primary school Athletics Days.

We also welcomed grade six students from Langwarrin Primary School and Woodlands Primary School for full-day visits to EMC. These students got a firsthand experience of what it's like to be a secondary school student, exploring subjects available in Year 7 and 8, and learning about the transition process.

Year 7 Students – Settling In and Looking Ahead Our 283 Year 7 students have settled into secondary school life wonderfully. After their initial days of getting familiar with their new environment, they are now embracing the responsibilities and expectations of secondary school. Looking ahead, our Year 7s are excited about their upcoming camp in Term 2, where they will further strengthen their connections with teachers and peers.

EMC Combine – A New Chapter for Student Athletes.

This year, EMC launched its very first EMC Combine Student Athlete Program, starting with our basketball teams in February. This exciting new initiative is giving our athletes the opportunity to develop their skills and build relationships within their teams. The athletes have participated in elite training academies and train twice a week at 7:15 AM with our head coaches, Mike McInnes and Mitch Riggs.

They’re looking forward to competing in upcoming friendly games against other academies. Go EMC!
