Kuta-kaya Vegetable Patch
This term, two of our classes joined forces to replant our vegetable garden. The students dug new soil and organic fertiliser into our raised garden beds, then planted corn, pea, silverbeet, lettuce, snowpea, carrot and broccoli seeds. We are hoping for a great harvest by the end of Term 2.
Liam Restores Pintu Garden – A Blooming Success to End the Week
Pintu – It’s been a great end to the week for student Liam, who has been steadily restoring the garden space behind Pintu. Through patience and consistent effort, Liam has made impressive progress, and the area is already looking fantastic. His hard work and dedication to improving the space has not gone unnoticed – the garden is shaping up beautifully. A huge well done to Liam for taking pride in his work and helping to create a peaceful, green space for all to enjoy. 🌿👏
Banjo and Caiden Hit the Right Notes in Music Elective
Banjo and Caiden have been making waves in their music elective, working hard on perfecting their performance – and it shows! The duo has put in the effort and are proud of what they’ve achieved so far. If you see them around, be sure to let them know what you think – their dedication and passion for music deserve to be celebrated. Great work, Banjo and Caiden! 🎶
Kuta Kaya Sport
Students in Kuta Kaya have been enjoying developing their basketball skills. Skill development such as passing, dribbling and shooting have been part of their sport education this term. It has been particularly positive and encouraging to see students participate in some healthy competitive and inclusive basketball games.
Kuta Kaya Students enjoying extra-curricular
Students in Kuta kaya have been thoroughly enjoying partaking in the fortnightly extra curricular activities, particularly the new additions of rock painting and furniture restoration. There have been some impressive designs on the rocks, and some have been gifted to friends, family and staff. Furniture restoration takes some mighty effort but the students are enjoying seeing progress. Their persistence is to be commended.
Pokémon Club Thrives with New Faces, Familiar Champions and of course Professor Princehorn!
This year has seen a surge in numbers for the Pokémon extracurricular group, with many enthusiastic new faces joining the ranks. A highlight has been the continued dedication from players who began their Pokémon journey in Year 7 and are now going strong in Year 8. Their commitment and passion have helped foster a fun and welcoming community where both newcomers and seasoned trainers can battle, trade, and share their love for the game. The Pokémon spirit lives on, stronger than ever!
Catches of the Day
Class - Pikan - In a true showcase of pure fishing talent, River and Joseph took angling to a whole new level. River reeled in the elusive...stick of the day, while Joseph pulled off an impressive catch of his own—a fully functional fishing rod! It’s not every day you see a fisherman catch more fishing gear instead of fish, but these two proved that when it comes to fishing, anything is possible.
Rosaleigh Starts Strong in Animal Care Course at TAFE
Pintu – Local resident Rosaleigh has taken the first step toward a future in animal care, recently beginning the Animal Care and Management – Start Your Future course at TAFE. Passionate about working with animals, Rosaleigh has hit the ground running and is already loving the hands-on experience and learning opportunities the course provides. With a bright future ahead in animal care, Rosaleigh is excited to continue gaining skills and knowledge in a field she truly enjoys. Rosaleigh learnt the importance of a balanced diet for guinea pigs and rabbits. She measured the feed using a guide appropriate for the animal. The taster course allows students to channel their passion for animals as part of their study to develop practical, foundational skills in animal care and see if a career in animal care is right for them.
Claire Begins Retail Journey with Woolworths at TAFE
Kirawa – Today marked an exciting milestone for Claire as she began her Retail – Start Your Future course at TAFE, kicking off her first day with enthusiasm and determination. Partnering with Woolworths, the course offers Claire hands-on experience and valuable skills in the retail industry. Eager to learn and grow, Claire is looking forward to what the future holds as she takes her first steps toward a career in retail.
Issiah Serves Up Success at Domino’s Work Experience
Warikal – Issiah had a slice of success today as he wrapped up a fantastic day of work experience at his favourite pizza place – Domino’s. A highlight of the day? Making a cheese crust pizza all by himself! Issiah loved every minute of the hands-on experience and is thriving in the fast-paced pizza environment. His passion for food and customer service shines through as he continues to enjoy every moment of his Domino’s journey.
Donyae and Sophie Shine in Library Work Experience
A big achievement for Donyae and Sophie, who have been gaining valuable skills through their ongoing work experience at the library, attending once per fortnight. They’ve been hands-on with stocktake, scanning, and sorting books and library items, playing an important role in keeping the library running smoothly. Their dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed!
