High School Experience Reflection

A Day In Salesian

All of the year 4 boys visited Salesian college. We entered Salesian College and followed some of the high school students into the hall where we were informed about the Salesian

College's catholic mission. Alexander saw some of his friends from his soccer club.

Next, we went into another classroom for art. For art, we created monster sculptures out of 3 colours. Max created a mouse monster (you can tell by the ears) and Alexander created a worm monster.

Then we did science. We did two experiments and the teacher did three experiments. One of the experiments was the teacher poured chemicals and soap to make a large science tube pour out frothy yellow and green foam.

After that, we played soccer. We played a game where we had to run through gates made of cones and count how many we ran through. We  did the most so we won!  After that, we did it while dribbling soccer balls. We won that one too. At the end, we played a game. We won that too! We were so happy. The score was 2:1.

After that, we listened to a band. They were highschool kids In grade 10 and 11. They played drums and guitar and 1 of them was singing. Their songs were so good. I didn't know what they were called tho ):

Finally, we played dodgeball. But we had to go in the middle of the game.

I had a good time at Salesian and I hope everyone else did too.

Excursion To Avila

Last Wednesday, the Year 4 girls visited Avila for the day.  When we arrived some Avila students came to greet us and took us to their Bunjil Hall. We were welcomed to the school by the School Captain  and the Principal. They briefly told us all about the school. The Avila girls performed dancing and showed us their aerobics routines. Our first activity was in the Technology Area of the school. We used VR equipment and it felt so realistic. We could see the dark ocean and sea animals. We also participated in Coding. The Avila girls taught us coding and we controlled the traffic lights and we also controlled the movements of a fan. We then were able to control robots and make them do stunts.

Our second activity was our favourite subject, Art. During this time we made keychains using shoelaces and colourful beads. At the end the keychains looked really good and we were able to take them home.

Lastly we had a Science lesson where we had to do chromatography. Chromatography is a way to separate a mixture by putting it on something like paper. The different parts of the mixture move at different speeds, so they spread out and we can see the separate parts. We had to find out who stole all the eggs from Avila’s Agricultural Department.  After the investigation we discovered it was the Principal.

We all had a good time and learnt new things.
