Principal's Message

End of Term

I would like to thank all students, staff and community members for an outstanding first Term of the year.  This is always one of our busiest times of the year, with staff working hard to build positive relationships, establish classroom routines and quickly understand the learners in their classroom.  The calm, orderly and engaged environment in our classes has enabled learning to begin in earnest very early in the school year. 

I wish all a relaxing break with enjoyable times with friends and family.  We look forward to building upon the foundations we have set this Term for the remainder of the year. 

A reminder we have an early dismissal this Friday, with a 2:30pm finish. 

BNPS Master Plan

I encourage all to read the separate article in this newsletter from the BNPS school council.  The work our council is doing to advocate for funding will have significant and direct positive impacts on our student's school experience.  It is energising to work with a group so focussed on improving our school. 

Ride and stride - Open Streets

Tomorrow our school will take the next step in our Open Streets program, with community volunteers taking responsibility for managing the closure of Westbourne st to traffic before and after school.  Many of you will remember the open streets sessions Merri-Bek council assisted us in holding in Term 4 2024.  The closure of Westbourne st to traffic from 8:15am-9am and from 3:15pm-4pm encourages community members to ride, scoot or walk to school.  We saw significant increases in these sustainable and healthy modes of travel as a result of the program in 2024, and we are excited to continue this work this year. 

I would like to thank the community members who have volunteered their time, undertaken training and committed to managing this valuable initiative. 

Parents and Friends Autumn Picnic

Our annual Autumn Picnic was a huge success last week. It was great to see so many families connecting after school, enjoying food and drink together as children played on the grounds. Thank you to the parents and friends volunteers who coordinated and managed the event. We know that a community that is connected to school and to each other is able to support students in their wellbeing and learning. Events such as our Autumn Picnic actively create that sense of connection to place and each other.
