Year 10 Reflection Day

The Year 10 Reflection Day had a focus on Aboriginal Spirituality and Social Justice. Our Year 10 students experienced the powerful story telling of Scott Darlow, through song and stories of his family and personal experiences. Scott is an incredible witness to the power of forgiveness and to committing to reconciliation actions and attitudes.

The students then had a self-directed workshop experience, exploring everything from Laudato Si and Care for Creation to Trivia and Art. The feedback has been excellent and as we collect feedback from students and staff we begin to imagine what the day will look like in 2026. Student voice continues to help us shape and form these experiences so our young people have the opportunity to influence the delivery of future reflection days.

Blessing of Artwork and Artist

Every Friday morning our community have the opportunity to come together and celebrate Mass. This year we have also taken this opportunity to bless members of our community, such as the Blessing of Jumpers and Players before the Reconciliation Round football match in May and most recently we shared a Blessing of Artwork and Artist as Mandy Yako completed her VCE assessment piece featuring Mary and Jesus. Mandy’s work is captivating and is demonstrative of her deep understanding and love of Mary. Her artwork was also presented to the community at the Heritage Day Mass and Fr Brendan asked Mandy to share her testimony during the homily.

Heritage Day Mass

Heritage Day is traditionally celebrated at our College on the Feast of the Assumption. Both our Marist and Sion communities celebrate Mary as Our Good Mother and Our Lady of Sion. Our students were really beautiful participants of the Mass and even though many of our students are from a different faith background, they entered into the reverence.

Thank you to families who support the College on days of celebration with increased standards of uniform and honouring the compulsory attendance of students at these celebrations. The Eucharist is the ‘source and summit’ of the Catholic faith and the whole school community respectfully shared this sacred time.

This week have been away with the Year 11 students on Retreat and we still have the Year 9 Reflection Days to come this term. It is incredible to work at a College that values these events and provides opportunities for our young people to flourish.
