Heritage Week!

Heritage Week at Marist-Sion College has been a vibrant and meaningful celebration, bringing our entire school community together to honour the rich history and values that shape our identity.

Purpose of Heritage Day

Heritage Day is a special occasion that allows students and staff to come together in celebration of our College’s unique story. It is a time to reflect on and appreciate the foundations of Marist and Sion traditions, which continue to guide and inspire our community.

Throughout the day, we embraced the opportunity to:

  • Connect with our Charisms: Students engaged in activities that highlighted the values and spiritual heritage of both the Marist and Sion traditions.

  • Celebrate as a Community: The day was filled with joy, laughter, and shared experiences that strengthened our sense of belonging and unity.

  • Build Positive Relationships: Through collaborative events and shared reflections, students and staff deepened their connections with one another.

  • Reflect on Our Values: Heritage Day encouraged everyone to consider what they value most about our College and the role it plays in their personal growth and development.

This celebration was not just about looking back, it was about being present together, here at Marist-Sion College, at this moment in time.

Student Activities Throughout Heritage Week

Students participated in a wide range of engaging and inclusive activities designed to foster school spirit, creativity, and community involvement:

  • Monday: The week kicked off with the Longest Kick Competition on the Front Oval, encouraging friendly competition and physical activity.

  • Tuesday: Students supported the Tinnies for Vinnies initiative by donating food and winter essentials. Lunchtime featured a lively Karaoke Choir in the Marian Theatre and a Krispy Kreme fundraiser for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal.

  • Wednesday: A significant day with the Whole School Photo and College Mass, followed by Chalk Art in Lourdes Village, showcasing student creativity.

  • Thursday: The Staff vs Student Volleyball Match at Jericho Courts drew enthusiastic crowds and highlighted the camaraderie between staff and students.

  • Friday: Heritage Day itself featured a full schedule including a College Assembly, House Time, and the much-anticipated Marist-Sion College’s Got Talent! show. The week concluded with the Heritage Day Carnival, a joyful celebration of our community.

These activities not only brought fun and excitement to the week but also reinforced the values of service, unity, and pride in our College.

We thank all students, staff, and families for their ongoing support and for making Heritage Week a truly memorable experience.
