From the Principal

Production Week

The sounds of Madagascar have filled the school and excitement is high for Friday’s big performance! Please take time to read the family information provided by Miss Nugent, which answers common questions. A reminder: students must arrive on time to settle nerves and enjoy the atmosphere with their peers. After the show, Prep–Year 3 students will be dismissed first. Parents of Year 4–6 students are asked to move well back from the doors to help make this process smooth and safe for everyone. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as this helps ensure all students exit calmly and safely.

At our recent School Council meeting, it was agreed not to serve alcohol during intermission. The break is short, and this is very much a family and community event focused on celebrating our students’ achievements. We’re grateful to the council for their thoughtful discussions around this decision.

Parent/Carer Opinion Survey

So far, 63 families have completed the Education Department’s Opinion Survey. We’d love to see this number grow before it closes on Friday 19 September. Your voice truly matters and helps shape our school’s future; from programs we run to the way we connect with families. Even if you only have five minutes, we encourage you to share your thoughts—it makes a real difference.  The link to the survey can be found in recent compass posts.

Farewell Mrs Clark

At the end of this term we farewell Mrs Heidi Clark, our dedicated Inclusion Support Officer, as she moves into a well-earned retirement. She has supported countless students with kindness and care, and her impact will be long remembered. Our staff will host a special morning tea in her honour, and we invite families to create cards or messages to acknowledge her wonderful contribution. These thoughtful gestures mean a great deal to staff who have given so much to our school community.

Hats On!

A reminder: our Sunsmart Policy requires hats whenever the UV index is 3.0 or higher—not just in Terms 1 and 4. While young students may not yet understand the long-term risks, we know that consistent hat-wearing is one of the simplest and best ways to prevent future skin damage. Please help your child build this important habit by ensuring they have their hat every day. We want to make sun safety second nature for all students.

Story Dogs

Our Year 2 students continue to benefit from the Story Dogs program, where volunteers and their furry friends create a fun, supportive space for reading. The dogs listen without judgement, making reading practice feel calm and enjoyable for all learners. Each team is sponsored to participate, and our school contributes to this by raising the annual $500 sponsorship. To help support the program, we’ll hold a gold coin donation day on the second-last day of the term. This small contribution goes a long way in keeping this much-loved program running.

Sport Colours Day - Thursday 18 September

To celebrate the football season, students are invited to wear their team colours for our annual Longest Kick competition. This event has become a highlight of the year, enjoyed by girls and boys alike. Please bring a gold coin donation to support charity while joining in the fun. Sport Colours Day not only builds school spirit but also shows our students the value of giving back to the wider community.

Father’s Day Stall

A big thank you to all the wonderful parents who helped out at our Father's Day Stall yesterday.  Your time, energy and support made the event run smoothly and gave the children a chance to choose something special for the dads and father figures in their lives. Events like this wouldn’t be possible without you!

A sincere thank you is also extended to the school council fundraising committee who yet again have organised a highly successful gathering of our father figures tonight.  This provides the dads and father figures of the school an opportunity to enjoy each others company and build connections.

Warm regards
