Principal's Report

Kaylene Kubeil

Spring Forward

As Week 6 draws to a close, I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to the leadership team and staff for their support during my time as Acting Principal. We look forward to welcoming Kaylene Kubeil back on Monday after a well-deserved, albeit brief period of long service leave.

Despite the cooler weather this week, it has been lovely to see the wattles and blossoms in full bloom, a sign that spring is just around the corner. I’m sure you’ll agree it will be nice to enjoy some milder mornings and the return of shorter sleeves!

As we head into the spring season, we are mindful that some students may begin to experience allergies, including hay fever. With this in mind, we’d like to remind families of our procedures regarding the provision and administration of all medication at school.

To ensure that all medication is administered and stored safely and correctly, the following protocols must be followed:

  • Medication must be accompanied by written instructions outlining proper storage and administration.
  • It must be in the original container or box, clearly labelled with the student’s name, dosage information, and administration times.
  • Medication must be within its expiry date.
  • The batch number on both the box/container and blister pack must match.
  • The student’s full name must be clearly written on the blister pack using a permanent marker.
  • Medication will be stored according to the product’s instructions, particularly with regard to temperature.

You may receive a call in the coming week requesting that you bring the original box or container for your child’s medication to school. We kindly ask that this is actioned as soon as possible to ensure all medication is stored securely and in compliance with our guidelines. We thank you for your continued support.

Finally, our Pre-Foundation program commences next week. If you have enrolled your child in the program, please check your email to confirm your allocated day. The ELC gate will open at 1:45 pm for a 1:50 pm start. We look forward to welcoming you and your child to the program and beginning this exciting transition into school life.

Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!

In order to successfully implement a language program at Whittlesea Primary School, and in line with the Department of Education Languages Education Guidance, we ask that you provide to up to three suggestions in the Google Form below. Please enter these in order of preference, including the reasons why these particular languages should be taught. We thank you in advance for your feedback.

Smile Squad oral health packs

All children deserve a healthy smile, and the Smile Squad free school dental program is working hard to help make sure this happens.

Your child(ren) will soon receive a free oral health pack to bring home. The pack contains a toothbrush, full sized toothpaste, an oral health brochure and all packed inside a reusable water bottle. Please take the time to read the brochure. It’s full of helpful hints and tips to help your whole family eat well, drink well and clean well – for life.

Standard strength toothpaste

Smile Squad provides standard strength fluoride toothpaste that is generally used by ages six and over, unless recommended by a dental or trained health professional.

If your child is under six, please talk to a dental or trained health professional to find out if your child might benefit from using this toothpaste. You can also choose to put the toothpaste away until they turn six or give it to someone else in your family to use.
