SSS Arena arrival!
Our Victorian State Schools Spectacular mass dance ensemble are heading to John Cain arena this week! We are so proud of all the hard work they have put in to learning their dance routines for this year’s show. In recent weeks, they have prepared for their two big performances by participating in a regional hub rehearsal at Maroondah nets, by demonstrating their moves for the visiting Pre-School students during ‘Stepping Stones’ and in sharing two dances from the show, “Move Your Feet” and “Come Alive” at a school assembly this week.
We are looking forward to joining our school captain and principal vocalist, Zack Poole. Zack, along with WPS mass dance alumni Izayah Khazour and Cameron Poole, has been based at the arena since Saturday, rehearsing singing with the orchestra and familiarising himself with the stage entrances, costumes and technical set-ups.
Thank you to all the families who are coming along to support our students at the arena. You are in for an exciting theatrical experience!
Thank you, Hayley
It is always wonderful to welcome volunteer creatives into the Performing Arts room, and this term we have been lucky to have past student and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music graduate, Hayley Wolters visit us.
The students loved having Hayley, a saxophone and music composition specialist, teach them skills for singing in pitch. The different grades were amazed by the improvement in the sound of their group singing after just one workshop. They are looking forward to seeing Hayley again at George Wood Performing Arts Centre where she will work as our stage manager for “Singin in the Rain Jr” on December 10.
Congratulations past students
Congratulations to Sophie and Olivia Dibb who recently performed in the lead roles of Alice and Little Alice in Warrandyte High’s production of “Alice in Wonderland Jr”. It was lovely to watch the performance and see a number of our past WPS students on stage continuing to pursue their love of the arts. Backstage was well represented too, with Josh Williams (2023) assisting behind the scenes, and Amber Gedge (Annie, 2017), juggling her Primary School teaching studies with taking on directing responsibilities. Well done!
