Child Safeguarding

At St Joseph's, we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for children and young people, adhering to the Child Safe Standards and relevant legislation.

There are 11 Child Safe Standards - we will explore each one and how St Joseph's addresses the standards.

Standard 6 - People working with children and young people are suitable and supported to reflect child safety and wellbeing values in practice

Standard 6 of the Victorian Child Safe Standards focuses on ensuring that people working with children are suitable and supported to prioritize child safety and wellbeing. It emphasises the need for organisations to have robust recruitment processes, appropriate supervision, and ongoing support for staff and volunteers to uphold child safety practices.

Ways St Joseph's achieves this standard:

  • Policies
  • Recruitment guidelines
  • Code of Conduct for staff
  • Staff Training
  • Rosters and Timetables to ensure supervision meets all guidelines
