From the Principal

Dear Endeavour College Families,

As we pass the halfway point of Term 3, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has already been a busy and rewarding term at Endeavour.

Last week I had the privilege of attending the LESNW Principals and Directors Retreat/Conference.

This two-day spiritual event, led by Stuart Traeger and Dr Bruce Hulme provided an enriching blend of professional and personal growth. We explored state and national trends in education, examined best practices in cyber safety, and engaged deeply with faith-based reflections that grounded our time together.

With a full school calendar unfolding day in and day out, the opportunity to fully focus in a spiritually led sessions is not only beneficial, but imperative to the ongoing success of the role of Principal.

Beyond the sessions themselves, the conference was a wonderful opportunity to connect with other Principals from Lutheran schools across South Australia. The time spent in conversation, sharing experiences, and reflecting on the year so far was invaluable. I return to Endeavour inspired, bringing with me new insights and ideas to support our continued growth as a community.

I also wish to share an update released this week by Independent Schools Australia (ISA), highlighting the significant contribution Independent Schools make to our nation.

The report shows that Independent Schools not only deliver educational excellence but also play a major role in strengthening Australia’s economy. In 2023–24, the sector supported over 264,000 jobs, and reduced government costs by $12.5 billion.

Here in South Australia, Independent schools contributed $3.2 billion to Gross State Product and supported nearly 19,000 jobs. These findings affirm the value Independent Schools bring to students, families, and the wider community.

Furthermore, we advise that our College Counsellor, Marni Harding, will be beginning a new chapter at the end of term as she departs our College for a new opportunity.

Throughout her sixteen years of service, Marni has been dedicated to building a culture that places student wellbeing and mental health at the heart of learning.

She has led initiatives such as the implementation of The Well and the development of The Endeavour Way. She is recognised as a leader in Restorative Practices and has greatly influenced our College.

We sincerely thank Marni for her commitment and impact and wish her every success for the future.

As always, I am grateful to be leading this wonderful community and for the partnership we share with families and look forward to the opportunities the remainder of Term 3 will bring.

Mr Richard Baird

Principal
