This week marks Women’s Health Week. It is a nationwide health campaign run by our partner organisation Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, dedicated to the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of women and girls. Held during the first week of September it features our Women’s Health Forum, which took place this year on Thursday the 4th of September. The theme for this year was “Say yes to you,” encouraging individuals to prioritise their health, speak up and check in with themselves.
Over the past fortnight Community Hub has also run our second free paediatric first aid course in partnership with EmergCare, Kidsafe and the City of Greater Dandenong. With a successful turnout we welcomed new parents as well as grandparents and carers who wanted to know what to do in case of an emergency. We are so proud to empower our community by strengthening the chain of survival and preventing childhood injury.
In addition, our playgroup also celebrated Father’s Day by decorating beautiful wooden tshirt frames and writing messages of love to their loved ones. Some of the messages included “I love you Papa” and “I love you more than dinosaurs.” We were also delighted to have Springvale Library join us for a special song and story time on the Springvale Campus.
Last week, our hub had an absolute blast reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and crafting costumes for our Book Week parade at school. The group couldn’t stop grinning as they paraded around, surrounded by excited students. It was a heartwarming reminder that the love of reading truly never grows old.
