Can you believe it’s already Week 7?

This term has flown by and it has been packed with exciting activities! From the colourful costumes and engaging stories of Book Week to the splashes and skills of our swimming lessons, it’s been wonderful to see everyone participating with enthusiasm and giving their best effort.

With only two weeks left of the term, there’s still plenty to look forward to. We’ve got some fantastic excursions and learning experiences coming up, so let’s keep up the great energy and finish the term strong!

We’d also like to give a warm welcome to Mr Thompson, a pre-service teacher from Monash University. He’s currently completing a placement in the SLC as part of his teacher training and has already been a great support in our classrooms. We asked Mr Thompson what he enjoys most about working here, and here’s what he said:

“My favourite part of being in the SLC is being able to work in fun and collaborative environments and getting to work with amazing groups of students and teachers.”

In Weeks 4 and 5, we participated in our whole-school swimming program. During this time, we focused on building our swimming skills and learning important water safety rules. We practised entering the pool safely, following instructions, and always swimming with a buddy. We also learned how to perform safe rescues and what to do in an emergency. These lessons helped us become more confident, capable, and responsible swimmers.

Last week, the school was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated Book Week! Everyone got involved by dressing up as their favourite book characters, bringing stories to life in the most creative ways. The incredible costumes, imagination, and shared love of reading made it a fantastic week for all.

Congratulations to everyone who made the effort to dress up. Your costumes were AMAZING!

Year 5 students had the opportunity to take part in an exciting Taster Day at Keysborough College, where they experienced a variety of high school subjects such as science, sport, cooking, and more.

They explored the campus, met some of the teachers, and took part in hands-on activities designed to give them a taste of what life in Year 7 could be like. It was a valuable and inspiring experience that helped students feel more confident and curious about their transition to secondary school.

A few weeks ago, our netballers headed off to Regional Finals!

Although they faced some tough matches, we are incredibly proud of how every team member showed excellent sportsmanship, kept trying even when things got difficult, and supported each other with their words and actions. While they didn’t come away with a win, they’ve still made school history by being the first ever team to make it to Regionals! What an amazing achievement!

Here are some highlights from the netball team:

Jaycie – "I am very proud of my team for representing our school at Regionals! We all tried our very best!"

Emily - "Making it to regionals finals was a fun experience although we lost!  During our games everyone followed the rules and showed resilience during tough matches!"

Week 7 has been full of wonderful moments and fantastic teamwork across the school.

As we head towards the end of term, let’s keep showing all our school values and finish strong.

Just a friendly reminder: Hats must be worn when we're outside. Wearing a hat is super important, even on cloudy days, as the sun’s UV rays can still harm our skin. A hat helps protect our face, ears, and neck from getting sunburnt. That’s why we always say, “No hat, no play!”

So please remember to bring your hat each day and wear it proudly!

Let’s keep up the great work, aim high, and make the most of the final weeks of term.

We are already excited for everything next term has in store!
