It's been a busy couple of weeks not just in the senior area, but across the school, especially with Book Week! It was great to see so many grandparents and other guest attend their special afternoon. The Book Character parade was also a great highlight, with lots of incredible costume efforts!
We have continued to work hard in all learning areas and the students have been very adaptable and have used their time very well!
We can't believe there are only 3 weeks left of Term 3!
Here's a little recap of what we've been covering in the classroom:
Reading: Students have continued to develop various reading skills through the Huda and Me focus text. Some of these skills have included:
Identifying different cultural themes and elements.
Writing: Students have continued to develop and publish their narrative stories for the Cardinia Writing Project. They have worked hard to develop better editing processes, including reviewing their work with a partner and seeking feedback.
Maths: Our focus in Maths has centred around the transformation of shapes; rotation, reflection and translation. Students have learnt how to perform these transformations on a Cartesian Plane, incorporating grid plotting co-ordinates as another skill.
Humanities: Our Native Australian Animals unit has been highly effective, with students exploring mapping animal distributions and identifying the human impacts (positive and negative) on native animals and their habitats.
Hoop Time – Our students competed wonderfully in the 5/6 Hoop Time a few weeks ago! Our Future Stars #1 team managed to make it all the way to the Grand Final, going down to a very strong Beaconsfield side. Our remaining teams worked hard and enjoyed their day with varied results, however ultimately, the sportsmanship displayed by all of our students was second to none!
