Art Attack!
Arts Week 2025
Arts Week at Brighton Secondary College was a vibrant celebration of creativity, expression and community. With art smocks and cooking aprons dusted off, students dived into a week-long program of activities that showcased just how many ways there are to explore the arts.
The week opened on Monday with “Chalk with Mr Chalk”, where students drew a variety of creative poses from our very own Assistant Principal, Danny Chalk, including Baseball Player and Punk Rocker. There was also a relaxed movie screening in the media room of The Lion King for everyone to enjoy.
Tuesday saw the amphitheatre come alive with an open mic session, giving everyone a chance to share their talents with an enthusiastic audience. A stirring performance of "My Way" by Flynn Henderson brought the crowd to their feet!
Wednesday brought movement and colour, with a high-energy dance class alongside a water painting workshop, offering students two very different but equally rewarding outlets for creativity.
On Thursday, the focus turned to zines, where students experimented with stamps, illustration and storytelling to create their own unique mini-publications.
Friday brought a delicious and innovative end to the week. The cupcake masterclass had students swapping paintbrushes for piping bags and decorating sweet treats with artistic flair. Meanwhile, in the digital space, Minecraft Education Architecture challenged students to design imaginative virtual structures, blending creativity with problem-solving.
Across the week, we also held an art competition with prizes on offer for the winners. With many brilliant entries across different categories, our winners were: Alex Mu (Category: Photography – Then and Now), Lily Trezise (Category: Animal Emotions), Zoe Anzman and Malek Marouff (Category: Artwork Inspired by BSC) and Design Tech teacher Helen Lui (Category: Community). Congratulations all!
Arts Week reminded us all that creativity comes in many forms, from the stage to the kitchen, from the dance floor to the digital world, and that the arts continue to play a vital role in shaping our school culture.
