Reflecting on Term 3

As Term 3 winds down, we can truly say we have packed a huge amount of learning, events and experiences into just nine weeks. No wonder the students are feeling a little tired!

Our Years 3–6 Camp was an absolute highlight. I could not be prouder of our students. For many of our Year 3s, this was their very first camp, and they showed independence, resilience and a willingness to give everything a go.

What stood out the most, however, was how consistently our students demonstrated our school values – not just during activities, but in everyday moments. I saw students:

  • giving up their seats on public transport
  • striking up friendly conversations with people on trams and trains
  • holding doors open for others
  • picking up rubbish that wasn’t theirs
  • working well together in groups
  • supporting and encouraging their peers

These small but meaningful acts made me incredibly proud. They showed our students’ being aware of and using  kindness, respect and care for others in real-world settings.

Over the three days in Melbourne, students also had the chance to explore some amazing places, including:

  • Scienceworks
  • Melbourne Museum
  • Old Melbourne Gaol and the story of Ned Kelly
  • Queen Victoria Market
  • Archie Brothers Arcade
  • Melbourne Zoo

There was no downtime – across the camp we clocked up over 55,000 steps! I’m sure there were some very big sleep-ins on Saturday morning.

Looking Ahead to Term 4

School Council has been busy planning for next term. Some exciting decisions have been made, and we’ll share the details with families once everything is confirmed and booked. Stay tuned!

School Council will also begin reviewing and finalising the 2026 budget early in Term 4. Once this is complete, we will be able to release information about class structures and staffing for 2026.

I would like to remind our school community that I will be on Long Service Leave during the first week of Term 4 and on the following Monday and Tuesday.

During this time, Alison Clarke will be Acting Principal. Alison has taken on this role many times throughout her career at IPS and brings a wealth of experience and care to the position.

Should you need anything while I am away, please don’t hesitate to touch base with Alison.

Enrolments for 2026

We are excited to welcome all our new Foundation students that have enrolled to start school in 2026, and they will soon begin their Little Learners Transition Program which we are positive that they will love.  We are still taking enrolments, and school tours can be arranged at any time. If you know of any families considering schools for next year, please encourage them to come and see what makes our school such a special place.

Upcoming Events – Term 4

Term 4 is a long but exciting one, and we have lots of wonderful events planned. Please make sure to keep an eye on the calendar and check uEducateUs for any date changes.

This week, it’s the Prep/1/2 students’ turn to enjoy some fun, with a disco, pizza night and a school sleepover (for Year 1/2 students). The excitement levels are high and we’re all looking forward to a fantastic evening!

Parent Opinion Survey

At this stage, we have still only had seven families complete the Parent Opinion Survey. We strongly encourage all families to take a few minutes to participate before the survey closes on Thursday, 19th September.

Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us—it helps shape our school’s priorities, highlights what we are doing well, and shows us where we can continue to grow. The more families who take part, the more accurate and meaningful the results will be in reflecting our whole school community.

VACATION CARE- It is not too late..

Looking for something fun and engaging for your children these holidays? Look no further – book them in today! This program is open to all families in our community with school-aged children, and regular attendance at the program is not required.
