5/6 News
We can't believe we have reached the end of term three, it’s been wonderful to reflect on the many achievements and opportunities our students have enjoyed this term. From engaging classroom learning to exciting extracurricular activities, it has certainly been a busy and rewarding few months.
Looking ahead, Term 4 promises to be just as full as Term 3. With a range of sporting events, special programs, and new learning adventures on the horizon, we can’t wait to see our students continue to grow.
Please take some time to stop and recharge those batteries before we hit the ground running on Monday October 6th. Also be reminded hats will be needed at the start of Term 4. Please see Karen at the office if you are needing a new hat.

Week 8
On Thursday the 11th of September, we visited Wickham’s Martial Arts in Echuca with Di and Janine to learn how to defend ourselves and stay safe. We began by talking about what it means to trust our gut, use initiative, and avoid appearing vulnerable. We also discussed creating a safe word with our families and friends so that we can use it when we need help to leave a situation.
We considered how to stay safe in public places such as shopping centres, public toilets, parks, and train stations. Our key takeaways were to be aware of our surroundings, stay together, and listen to our gut. We also learnt how to recognise if we are being followed and what to do.
During the session, we practiced getting out of bear hugs and blocking punches — it was both fun and empowering!
Afterwards, we had a blast at Gravity Shack, enjoyed lunch at McDonald’s, treated ourselves to ice-cream at Augustus, and finished the day with a relaxing walk through the art gallery.
It was an action-packed and exciting day full of learning and fun!
Week 9
On Thursday the 18th of September, a group of 10, year five and six girls headed off for a really fun day. We went to Echuca to learn some self defense. In self defense. we learnt how to escape if someone was trying to attack us. In our lesson we also talked about what the attacker wants, which is valuables, body and your life. Then we did a couple more scenarios on how to escape when getting attacked. In the end we said our last goodbye to the amazing staff, Di and Janeen from Wickham's Marital Arts.
After self defense, we headed straight to Gravity Shack. When we got inside we went straight to the trampolines and decided that we were going to play tag. Eventually we ran out of breath and Mrs Pearce called us over for nuggets and chips just in time to refuel. We had one last bounce before heading off to the Port Ice Creamery.
Lastly we all lined up to pick our ice creams. There were so many flavours to choose from. Hanna and Audrey had to get acai. We had a really fun day with Mrs Pearce. We hopped in the bus and sang our way back to school.
Hands on Learning
Today at Hands on Learning we sat around the fire. To start with, we talked about what we were going to do for the day.
On the agenda was to fix some bikes that Mr T brought in and work on the pedal cars. We sanded that chassis on the pedal cars and once they were cleaned up they were ready for a lick of paint. Then it was onto fix a lawn mower to see why it wasn't working. We took the motor apart but we couldn't find the problem with it. Nugget and Kane cooked us chicken and gravy rolls for lunch, they were really tasty and the gravy was delicious. Thanks to Brett and Josh for a great day.

Hands on learning started off this week with a new group with Josh which included Nugget, Levi, Hannah and Flo. This week the two girls were at Empowered Girls Can @ TPS so Lachie and Chase filled in for them. Brett didn’t make it too hard for us this week with it being the final week. We started off doing weeding in the garden and some mowing. For lunch we were having roast chicken and gravy rolls.
The weeding was so annoying because I had to bend down which I hate and I got my hands wet and dirty. The mowing was the best part of the day. I mowed outside the gate near all the mulch. Although I loved the roast chicken and gravy rolls on the fire, they were yummy. Thank you Brett for an awesome term of hard work and sweat.
