Updates from Miss Maree

What a bumper of a term, filled with learning, laughter and an absolutely wonderful, amazing school production 'The Cow Moooosical'.

Words cannot express the joy and pride I felt last week as every single student participated in the performances - whether it was singing, dancing, knowing their lines, stage hands, prop making - it was all incredible. The matinee show was the perfect opportunity for our students to fine tune their performance in front of kindergarten students,  our F-2 friends from Nagambie Primary School and other attendees. The night performance was standing room only but this did not intimidate our students singing loudly and proudly - giving everyone a great show. Being able to use the Mechanics Hall gave the students the feel of being on stage with proper curtains, lighting, larger backdrops and props. I'm struggling to think how we can improve this for our next show in two years time!

This week we joined St Mary's Rushworth, St Mary's Inglewood and Holy Rosary Heathcote for a concert, activities and liturgy at Rushworth. It was wonderful to spend the day with other 'smaller schools' and enjoy the beautiful singing of Gen Bryant. We hope to be able to learn some our her songs to use in assembly and prayer gatherings. Once again our students rose to the occasion with some choosing to get on stage to sing and dance in front of the audience.

Our transition program 'Stepping Stones' for our future Foundation students has started with 12 enrolments for next year - this is just fabulous. We will welcome a number of new families to our school community as well as some existing ones.

Today the students and staff celebrated our last day of school with a Footy Day - organised by our very own Sebastian Garrett. The effort Sebastian put into today was amazing; a football match between the All Stars and St Joseph's Stars, pre game entertainment and activities. The highly competitive footy match was umpired by Rob and Macey Auld, with teachers in charge of timekeeping, cheer squad, photography, commentating - it had the works....even a  50 metre penalty was given against Morgs! Eddie Smyth was chosen Best on Ground by the umpires and the winning team - The All Stars were handed the home made Premiership Cup.

It is days like this that I am so grateful to be a part of St Joseph's!!!!

Congratulation to Sebastian who represented St Joseph's in Division Athletics held in Shepparton this week. Sebastian came 5th in both the 800 and 1500 metre races - a fantastic effort!

Today we farewell Mahveen, Mushfique (dad) and Evana  (mum) who are moving back to Melbourne after their two years working in Nagambie. We have loved seeing Mahveen blossom with confidence, especially during the musical. Her classmates , friends and Jacqui/Ebony will miss her dearly. We wish her all the very best at her new school.

Our School market/fete will be here before we know it -Sunday 19th October from 10-2pm. These holidays is a perfect chance to do a spring clean of toys and books that you no longer used (and which are still in good condition) to go on our pre loved stalls. Things like dried oranges/lemon/limes, jams, plants and seedlings also sell very well if you (or someone in your family) enjoy making these things.

I will be on leave for the first week and a half, with Maddy Blackwood in charge while I'm away.

Thank you for another term of wonderful support to myself and our amazing staff.

Have a wonderful holiday everyone.

Take care and stay safe,

Maree
