Taking Care of Me – Year 9 Sexual Health Program

This term, our Year 9 students took part in the Taking Care of Me program, a sexual health education initiative delivered by a team of expert guest speakers. The program covered a wide range of important topics including the influence of pornography on young people, understanding STIs and contraception, sex and the law (presented by Victorian Legal Aid), and the importance of consent in relationships. Students were also given a practical demonstration on how to correctly use a condom.

These sessions provided students with accurate, age-appropriate information to help them make safe, healthy, and informed choices. Following the presentations, students worked in class to complete their Common Assessment Task (CAT), applying what they had learned throughout the program.

The Taking Care of Me program gave Year 9 students an engaging and supportive space to learn about sexual health and respectful relationships, equipping them with knowledge they can use both now and into the future.
