Visual Arts
Students across all levels have been exploring two of the Book Week books over the last two weeks during their Visual Arts lessons. Here is an overview of what we have covered.
Year Levels: Prep, Year One & Year Two
Book: One Little Dung Beetle
Visual Arts Activity: Students listened to and enjoyed the story looking closely at the environment where the beetles live and the shape and features of the beetles. Students have created natural habitats out of oil pastel and coloured dye. Students then used simple printing techniques to print the various shapes and features of beetles. Our final step will be to cut out and place the beetles in hiding spots in their backgrounds.
Art Medium: Printing
Art Elements: line, shape, balance
Year Levels: Year Three, Year Four, Year Five, Year Six
Book: The Garden of Broken Things
Visual Arts Activity: Students have read and listened to the story and created 3D paper construction gardens collaboratively with a partner. Students then created mini gardens out of plasticine and included a hidden lost item. Students used modelling techniques to create these mini gardens.
Art Medium: Paper construction, modelling with plasticine
Art elements: shape, texture, balance
