Book Week at St Joseph's

Book Week Celebration Day

On Monday, 1st September, a colourful array of book characters came flooding through the gates of St Joseph’s. The anticipation and excitement were high as everyone waited to see who would appear in this year’s parade - and the line-up certainly did not disappoint!

Among the special guests were The Lorax, Cinderella, The Cat in the Hat, Hermione, Harry Potter, Coco, the Tin Man, Lion, Scarecrow, Dorothy, the Ninja Kids, Paddington, Ralph, Dogman, Chase, sporting heroes, Thelma, Steve, Hood, Rebel Girls, Greg Heffley, Belle, and Little Red Riding Hood - just to name a few.

After the parade, students from Prep to Year 6 joined together in mixed-age groups to participate in a range of literature-inspired activities. These included contributing to a whole-school art mural, tackling a book trivia quiz, and disguising a Gingerbread Man as a favourite book character.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Hanna Rose for sharing her incredible skills and creativity in leading our school mural, and to all the parents and carers for their wonderful support with costumes.

Finally, I have included some little snippets of the students' reflections about the day:

I loved dressing up as Wally and making the gingerbread man into a book character.

My favourite activity was the Trivia quiz, because I enjoyed answering the questions with my friends.
