Dendy Athletics Carnival Reflections

Alfred and Daniel

Last week we had Dendy Athletics. Everyone did so well and some people made it to the Beach side division! Everyone had a lot of fun!

‘Move up!’, the race instructor's voice echoed throughout the quiet race track. I then walked up to the starting line and waited for the race to start. I was shaking all over as the suspenseful quiet of waiting was killing me, at one point I swear a tumbleweed could’ve gone by. Then the long awaited signal had come, ‘ON YOUR MARK! GET SET!’ BEEP! Then suddenly we were off! It was an intense neck-to-neck race where the world around me was a huge blur. I zoomed through the finish gates and slowed down. I was crossing my fingers as they announced the winners of the 100m ‘In third place lane 2’. I quickly looked down at my lane number. Man, lane 2 was me. My disappointment slowly went as I thought at least I made it into the podium. I happily grabbed my ribbon and walked off the track, filled with joy and happiness.

The Dendy Athletics Carnival was an amazing experience filled with many exhilarating moments. The athletics carnival is one of my favorite school activities and I 100% enjoyed it last Friday. It was fun watching and cheering on my other classmates in events and even more exciting participating in those events myself! It was a great last dendy athletics for me that will never leave my memories.

Beep! There goes the beeper for the start of the race, then everyone starts sprinting for their lives but only two make it to the second round.

Today isn’t a normal school day, it is the Dendy Athletics Carnival! Lucky for me I got the two race preferences that I wanted, but not all kids got that. After a long boring bus drive, we finally arrived at the place where it all happens. It was a fun day!

Book Week Reflections

Pip

Bonjour everyone! It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure we get to tell you about Book Week! As I walked through the gate I saw so many creative colourful and big costumes! There were so many fun activities we did that day like playing trivia and doing art. Actually, we did a lot of art! One of the activities was part of a whole school artwork, and another one was making a ginger bread costume out of different fabrics! It was so fun!

Lucy

My highlights from Book Week were…The parade! It was really fun seeing everyone dressed up. I saw so many people go as Harry Potter, Wally and Alice in Wonderland and everyone's costume was great! Even the teachers were dressed up great! Some of them went as Thing 1 and Thing 2, The Cat in the Hat, Miss Trunchball and Nemo!

Oscar

On Wednesday, we had book week at St Joseph's. It was fun to see everyone's costumes, the day was so good.

My favourite activity was trivia and I liked to see my mum speak in front of the crowd. A big thanks to my mum for coming in and giving up her time, I loved doing the artwork and my Mom did a great job!

Nicholas and Benji

Yeahhhh!!!!  The roar of the crowd rang in my ears as we marched through the hall. I was absolutely flabbergasted as I peered through the crowd and saw a minion, an inflatable axolotl and The Three Little Pigs! It was the Book Week Dress Up Day and parade. As we made our way out the hall, we saw all kinds of different book characters ranging from Darth Vader to Belle from Beauty and Beast.

Spencer and Max

As the music played and we started walking up the catwalk everyone started laughing and singing along to the song. It was the 1st of September and we had BOOK WEEK!!!  There were Dogmans and Cinderellas, Little Piggies and even Napoleon! It was crazy. We did so many activities in different groups such as; disguise the gingerbread man as your favourite book character, trivia on book questions and a whole school art canvas piece where we drew our favourite book character. At the end of the day, we were exhausted from all the fun we had, making it one of the funnest days of this year!

Jamie

As I walked through the gates of school I was absolutely flabbergasted as I saw Napoleon Bonaparte and the Three Little Pigs playing tag in the playground. It was Book Week and everyone was encouraged to dress up as their favourite characters from books. I dressed up as the T-rex from Jurassic Park and I just put on a dinosaur mask and a white shirt. At the start of the day we all went into the hall and had a parade for every class, Ms Jackson even challenged us to see who could have the best walk up and down the hall catwalk.

After the parade we all went into one of the six groups and did some activities. The first activity I did was a trivia activity, which I won! For the trivia we did book quizzes for the first and second round but for the third round we had to guess where the certain song came from.

For the second activity we did a gingerbread man disguise competition, where you had to dress up the gingerbread man with all sorts of stuff to make it look like your favourite book character. And Ms Jackson challenged us again to see who would make the best gingerbread disguise.

For the third and final activity we had to draw our favourite book character which they would make into one giant artwork. They said for us to sketch it first and then colour it in. They also put many pieces of paper with photos of book characters on it for inspiration.

After all the activities we went back up to our classroom and we got to draw a scene from our favourite book that they would then stick up on the wall in the hallway. Overall it was really fun and the activities were really cool to do. It also made it twice as good since we got to dress up!

Stella, Charlotte and Sienna

Horses trotting, axolotls walking on land and characters coming to life! The day was a blast! We did many awesome activities: from disguising your ginger bread man, to drawing your favourite character, to playing a book trivia and finding Miss Martin and Mr Prowce as Wally and Wedny in the yard!

Pyjama Day Reflections

Stella, Charlotte and Sienna

On Friday last week our school celebrated the end of the Malvern Food Drive with Pyjama Day. On Pyjama Day everybody came to school in PJs or comfy clothes and we had hot chocolate to raise awareness about homelessness and those in need. A highlight of this day was getting hot chocolate and marshmallows because it was cold and it helped us warm up. Overall it was super fun!

Xavier

Woosh! Kids with pyjama’s dashed past me as they lined up hot chocolate. When I finally lined up for the hot chocolate, there was barely any left! Last week we had Pyjama Day with hot chocolate - we got to come to school in our pyjamas and have hot chocolate for the first break! We did this to celebrate the Malvern Food Drive and raise awareness.

Alexander

HOT CHOCOLATE! Yelled the stampede of preps! The preps ran as fast as they could to get their hot chocolate. When I tasted mine I actually enjoyed it. It is really fun to go to school in your pyjamas!
